With temporary store closures following the outbreak of COVID-19, retailers have been left with no choice but to recalibrate their strategies to adapt to the ongoing crisis. Since the pandemic, footfall in UK High Streets, retail stores, and shopping centres plummeted to as much as 80% in April amid the lockdown.
The reality is, thousands of shops may have closed their doors for the last time when they “temporarily shut.”
Recent data shows that over 20,600 retailers are expected to have pulled their shutters down for the final time by the end of the year, a massive leap on the 4,547 that closed in 2019.
