Jenny Holzer Studio
Holition’s ongoing collaborations with renowned global artist, Jenny Holzer, have continuously been recognised for their ability to demonstrate how creative technologies such as augmented reality can be harnessed for the arts and social causes. Featuring Holzer’s signature text-based art, the following collaborations with world-class museums and galleries have been recognised:
LIKE BEAUTY IN FLAMES - Museo Guggenheim Bilbao
The combination of word and light plays an important role in Jenny Holzer's work: temporary light installations featuring monumental lettering projected onto buildings and landscapes have been among her best-known works since the 1990s.
Made exclusively for the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao’s collection, Holition created a standalone mobile application for Holzer’s LIKE BEAUTY IN FLAMES, which features texts by Holzer as well as fragments by other authors she admires, including the app’s title, which is borrowed from Polish poet Anna Świrszczyńska’s poem “Beauty Dies.” Through immersive technologies, three distinct augmented reality experiences within the vicinity of the Guggenheim, its surroundings, and anywhere in the world, are revealed.
Like Beauty in Flames received the following recognitions from the MUSE Awards:
1. Platinum: Art Event
2. Gold: Experiential & Immersive - Augmented Reality
3. Gold: Experiential & Immersive - Live Experiences
4. Gold: Experiential & Immersive - Exhibition Experience
LOUISE BOURGEOIS XX - Kunstmuseum Basel
In a curated exhibition for Kunstmuseum Basel, Holzer collaborated with Holition to retell the story of Louise Bourgeois’ work through her eyes, enabled by creative technologies - introducing a myriad of engaging art pieces that demonstrate the impact of technology, human experience, and creativity on the public.
LOUISE BOURGEOIS XX received the following recognitions from the MUSE Awards:
1. Platinum: Experiential & Immersive - Augmented Reality

Harnessing creative data visualisation technologies, the immersive experience highlights the fascinating, yet complex systems found in soil, which serves as a bedrock for biodiversity and human life.

DREAMACHINE - UNBOXED 2022: CREATIVITY IN THE UK
Dreamachine was one of 10 projects which have been especially commissioned for Unboxed: Creativity in the UK, taking place across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales and online. Working alongside Collective Act and Team Science, Holition was tasked with developing Dreamachine’s Live digital programme - an experience that sought to explore the vast potential of the human mind.
Holition’s role at the Dreamachine was to explore these commonalities by harnessing creative technologies that will allow individuals to communicate with others and better understand their own experiences inside Dreamachine, and translate these collective experiences into tangible data that will enable Neuroscientists to conduct the largest study of the human mind.
DREAMACHINE received the following recognitions from the MUSE Awards:
1. Experiential & Immersive - Exhibition Experience
2. Experiential & Immersive - Live Experiences
“Sitting in an area that blends art, technology, and science, Holition has always been interested in the notion of Digital Anthropology - exploring the more creative, less rational use of technology to understand the human experience.
On behalf of our Studio, we thank the IAA for recognising our work once again at this year’s MUSE Creative Awards.” - Jonathan Chippindale, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer, HOLITION.
“The IAA team was caught off-guard by the works submitted for the second season of 2022’s MUSE Awards. These entries were truly astounding, and they certainly bring the level of competition up a notch,” Thomas Brandt, spokesperson of IAA, noted. “It’s amazing as always to witness great works lined up in the competition. The team is absolutely in awe of the level of creativity and ingenuity that is in the industry.”
By inviting industry professionals to serve as the competition’s jury, IAA upheld their standards of impartiality and enforced industry standards as their assessment criteria. The jurors’ mission was to identify excellence and burgeoning talent amidst the myriad of entries submitted, which would serve as new benchmarks in their respective industries.
